Q: street racing?
any website for watching street racing vids?
besides youtube… ive seen all of them

A: http://www.motoraddicts.com/index.cfm

http://www.dailymotion.com/gb

http://www.streetracersonline.com/videos/

http://skylinevideo.vidiac.com/recentvideos/2.htm

http://video.google.co.uk/videosearch?q=streetrace

Q: Street Racing?
So heres my question and its about street racing. How far does the rabbit borough go? Why do people street race without the consent of themselves knowing how to drive good? Most street racers crash because they don’t know how to control their car which then comes in the art of drifting. Simply I’m getting some sort of car either japanese or a german made 2000 bmw m3. Still I plan to go on the track. As well how much can a fine for street racing go for in SoCal and how long do they impound your car for? As well considering I know people street race on desert highways late at night and on desolate canyon roads, mountain passes, etc.

A: Too many people, innocent and not-so-innocent bystanders are killed by street racers. If it were only the drivers, I wouldn’t give a flying pig-poop, but when other people die, that is too much. If these drivers aren’t smart enough to find a track, and in some cities they can actually enlist the help of the police in this endevour, then they are too stupid to be allowed to drive anywhere, anytime. A lot os street racing is done on main drags in cities, not on secondary highways. Those secondary highways, even late at night, aren’t always deserted, either. Don’t worry about your fine, municipalities are starting to seize and crush street racing cars. I expect that trend to spread.

Q: Street racing?
Does anyone know the laws about street racing

A: If you want the absolute truth on the answer, check with the local police department or your state law books on-line. You can’t go wrong.

Q: street-racing?
fun or dumb? i love cars and i love to work on them and race them i go to the track once in awhile but i love to street race …. on top of that i am in a car club *Flexspeed* _ *team hook it up* we run in baltimore maryland anyway what you think ?

A: Fun to do – but it is dumb

If you wreck your car your done.

I also race imports and muscle – street only.

I am fully aware that it is illegal and dangerous. Use the proper saftey gear, closed roads are cest, and make sure people stay back from the cars.

Q: What is a realistic street racing game on the ps3?
i want something realistic and that is a street racing game. Somethig where you race on open roads with traffic and lots of other realistic things. I am thinking NFS carbon or bunrout. Recomment others as well.

A: Midnight Club:Los Angeles is very good and so is NFS Carbon. Burnout paradise and NFS Undercover are also great. Gran Turismo 5 is very realistic, but it isn’t a street racing game. You may also want to check out Ridge Racer 7, GRID, and DiRT.

Q: What is the consequences for street racing in illinois?
I don’t want to hear how stupid it is, I really don’t care. What happens to someone if they are pulled over for street racing in illinois.

A: Lot of police forces are starting to impound/destroy cars now for street race. I think in CA they impound your car and crush them at junk yard.

It’s up to you. If you want to risk crushing your precious pretty pretty pink car.

Not as bad as killing somebody with your race car though.

Nothing like seeing car you worked on for many years get crushed. It was hilarious to see this guy in newspaper who just witnessed his race car get crushed like pancake.

Q: What are the penalties for street racing?
I have a friend who street races a lot, and I was wondering what the penalties for street racing are. We live in Washington state. Is it a misdemeanor or felony? Is it like a time in jail or just a fine?
Also, what are the penalties for burning out, like in a parking lot or stop light?

A: Im not sure what cops do in Washington
but in CA

you get
1. your car impounded
2. ticket for wreck-less driving
3. you have very expensive impound fees to get your car back
4. ticket for speeding
5. ticket for any modifications to you car.
6. ticket for in dangering the public
7. ticket for exhibition of speed.
8. possible jail time.
9. trying to pay for auto insurance is now going to really suck.
10. your license may be taken away.

Q: What do you wanna see in a street racing movie?
Hey guys, Im going to film school and when im done I wanna make a street racing movie. I was wondering what you guys would like to see in it thats not in other street racing movies.

A: i wanna see a REAL crash.. not like fast n furious.. its not real.. people actually die doing this.. u gotta show it..

or hitting a pedestrian

Q: What is some of the best street racing cars?
I wanna get a fast and tricked out street racing car (just for show and tell) so what are some nice and fast cars for street racing?I really need to know please.

A: American Muscle Car all the way.

Q: What are some good street racing games where you can customize your car and free roam?
What are the best street racing games?

A: need for speed
but i like Grid

Q: What kind of street racing really exists?
We have all seen the show 2 fast 2 furious, and other alike, so my question is, what kind of street racing truly exists? I know you got the punk kids in LA cruising around in the POS ricers, but is there really something like 2 fast 2 furious, or people in Lamborghini and Ferrari’s racing around in different area of the USA?

A: I’ve seen it in New York (I was really young), Jersey, Reno NV, South Cal. All this info is from my experience, I am just one in millions of racers out there.

Hollywood really glamorizes it. They show beautiful cars lined up, from 1 grand cars that have 100 large in them, to 6 figure cars. Half naked models walking around, Ja rule’s and Ludacris’s walking about. Huge bets on the races. And adrenaline music coming out of the night.

In life, they usually meet around midnight on the weekends. Anywhere where there is no loidering laws or after hours laws. Somewhere where you won’t get in trouble for just parking in their parking lot and chilling all night. Best Buy maybe.
A night can go anywhere from 20-200+ cars. Mostly ricers! (50% ricer, 30% mid to high end import, 10% muscle and SUV, 5% random spectators, 5% TOP end cars like vipers) Mostly young guys, age 25 and under. When they hit early 20’s they usually go legit or just give it up. You spend a couple hours showing off cars and talking to each other. There are racing spots all over their town (mostly drag). You can set up a race before hand or do it on the spot. On spot races can start as simply as “Hey who’s evo is this? Hey you wanna race?” The cars that are racing and a few spectating will go and race. Usually no bets are involved, mostly gas money if any. I’ve seen 1 grand at the most, and a couple times they bet their girlfriends!

If it’s a big night, cars will line up diagonally on the outside and they will run races there for however long they want. They cut the roads off for safety. If someone sees an incognito cop, they yell it out and everyone scatters! that is the fun part haha.

A lot of the time, the cops will sit by the meeting spot (Best Buy, etc.) and wait for a few cars to leave it. They follow them to the race spot. If this happens, they send 5 or so LOUD cars out to lead the police away. This is a phony race, they usually just lead them on the other side of town where there is no racing action going on. If this works then the real racers will go out after them and have their fun.

Sorry it’s so long. Any other questions?

Q: How to get a ford shelby cobra concept in street racing on myspace?
I play that street racing crap on myspace and i was wondering how everyone is getting the ford shelby cobra concept because i cant find it?

A: it was a free car about 2 months ago i got 518 of them so i can send you 1 if you want it

Q: Where can i find a street racing club in Western Kentucky?
Are there any street racing clubs in Western Kentucky? I know street racing is bad but I am really interested in it and was wondering if there were any clubs in Western Kentucky. Can anyone tell me of any street racing clubs in Western Kentucky? Also do they have a website?

A: Yes, there is a street racing club in Western Kentucky known as Nasty Racing and they do have a website. They talk about a variety of different topics, mostly street racing, on their forums. Their website is located at: http://www.nastyracing.net

There are quite a few street racers from Western Kentucky who frequent their website. Just use the link I provided and you will find a host of information about street racing in Western Kentucky.

Q: Argument against the fact that the Street Racing Law in Canada is unconstitutional?
I am taking grade 11 law and i have a very important debate. I am on the negative side (agaisnt) that the new street racing law is unconstitutional.
I have done my research but am still confused.
It seems that their is alot of information on the “for” side of the argument.
Basically what i need is about 10 strong arguments.
I need desperate help as i dont want to get crushed by my oponents.
And maybe a few counter-arguments to the ones they will probably say.

A: 1) Societies have basic responsibilities to all those within its boundaries, and one of those is public safety for everyone, whether they be citizens, visitors, on a work permit, a landed immigrant or even someone illegally in the country. Street Racing is a dangerous activity and therefore laws that are passed by any legislative body, provided they are within their authority, to maintain public safety cannot be unconstitutional, unless by enforcing the law there is a breech of rights that are protected by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms or any other applicable document.

2) A law can only be deemed unconstitutional if the courts have made a ruling on it. Since no such ruling has occurred, the proposition, in the strictest sense, cannot be true now, although it might be true in the future.

3) What rights are not being protected for those who wish to engage in such activities but are prohibited by the law? Obviously none, so how can a law that prohibits such activity be unconstitutional?

4) If the law is unconstitutional, then so are stop signs, speed limits, no parking zones, one way streets, etc. All these prohibitions are in place to protect public safety. Is not a law that prohibits a race on a public thoroughfare simply a method to maintain public safety?

5) Perhaps opponents might say that street racers have a right to engage in an activity which they enjoy and it should be permitted on this basis. However they are not prohibited from such activity. There are legitimate venues where cars can be raced in an environment that, although unsafe for those racing, is safe for anyone else who does not wish to be put at risk. Therefore their rights are not being breeched.

Good Luck!

Q: How do you win the lamborghini diablo in myspace street racing?
myspace street racing app
how do u win it? I already raced 10 frnds and it didnt give me it.

A: I had the same issue, but there was a message sent out saying they were having some issues. You should get the lambo shortly

Q: I have located a used set of headers for a1982 F-body and need to know if they will fit I was told no?
I called the Eldebrock and they said they would not fit. Has anyone tried to fit a set of 89 up headers on a 82 F body

A: well, are they shorty headers,or long tubes?
check out this site
thirdgen.org for 82-92 f body cars tons of info there

Q: Where can i buy Cheap f-body Camaro within 200 miles of Kansas city?
I would like to buy a cheap f-body mostly a camaro within 200 miles of kansas city mostly a 4th generation and i have around 2000$ dollars and i would prefer the z28 anyone out there willing to sell
preferably no junker but i can work with something

A: look at stuff that falls off of tow trucks

Q: Where to find suspension parts for a f body mopar?
I have been searching to rebuild the front end on my 78 plymouth volare but cant find a kit that contains ball joints, tie rod ends, bushings, bumpers, etc. anyone know a site that has these? Thanks

A: check with these guys ,they should have what your looking for on that one,i have bought from them before, their pretty reasonable on price also, good luck with it,,http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/

Q: Is it possibly to swap a BBC(454) into an 80s f-body that had a 305?
If its possible what do i need to do it and whats an estimate.

A: You don’t need to clearance the strut towers. In fact any denting or cutting of them is BAD.

You will need big block swap headers $300-400

BBC running engine.

Welded in subframe connetors. Probbly a welded in 4 point roll bar min.

The unibody is weak in these cars and flexes with the stock 305’s

Your rear end will need to be replaced with a 12 bolt or ford 9″.. No use trying to upgrade that 7.5″ 10 bolt. Been there, done that.. Broke 2 with a 505 HP 355 small block

The T5 man trans and stock 700r4 trans will not handle the power.. Need a built 700r4 or a th-350 or th-400 (th-400 is my pick)

Then you will need a way to hook the torque arm up to the th-400 trans. Hurst makes a $125 swap kit for that.. Spohn has a kit.

Or you could just do what I ended up having to do.. To gain the needed traction on my 355 sbc I had to go to a saddle mount trans tunnel short jegster torque arm.. It helped traction alot, and a big plus is with it, the torque arm does not mount o transmission.. So any trans can be used with out that worry.

Now for the hood clearance.. You can get a fiberglass cowl type hood, cut a hole in stock hood and rivit hood scoop on.. Or if you measure everything just right, you can fit a 2″ tall air filter under the stock flat hood.

You need a short intake like a performer, 1.5″ drop base air cleaner, 2″ tall filter, etc.

Now prob with the short filter and large drop base is it only gives you 1/2″ of room from top of breather to top of carb. This can choke te engine for air as the rpms goes past 4000 or so.

You will need an aftermarket alum 2 core rad. I’m running a $170 summit house brand 31″x19″ rad in my 1988 camaro. These rads do not have a trans cooler built into them so you will have to buy a good trans cooler to add to it.

I’m running 2 trans coolers on mine. One of the stacked plate types from B&M (best design) and 1 large tube/fin type

A good elec fan will help to cool engine better plus give you more room to work with. You will need 3400+ cfm air flow from fan though.

The front springs, suspension is fine. The BBC only weighs 110 lbs more than the SBC.. This will lower the front end by about 1/4″ to 1/2″

Now the satock rear suspension will work but it’s trash if you really want to hook and not spin like crazy.. I had to go to spohn adjustable controll arms, control arm lowering brackets, adjustable spohn panhard rod, stiffer rear springs, KYB AGX adjustable rear shocks, air lift drag bags in the rear springs,

Do it and do it right, the price will run up quick. I have over $16,000 in mine counting buying car for $550,and building the engine… All of that is parts prices.. No labor, I do all my own work

Q: Third generation F-Body. How do I get more horsepower?
I have a 1987 Pontiac Trans Am with a 5.7 liter engine. It makes 230 horsepower stock. I have a performance chip in it which adds like 10 horsepower but I want to be pushing at least 260/270. Any ideas? I prefer to hear from members who have third gen f-bodies.

A: a set of heads and a good cam would get that power easily.

or yes a crate motor.. tho not needed.

you could do gearing. it wont add power but will make it quicker

Q: Do 80s f body comaros with 10 bolt diff have full floating or semi floating axles?
How are the axles mounted then?

A: Neither they are held in with c-clips and the flange is part of the axle.

Q: Will 08 corvette stock wheel and tire sizes fit an 02 f body trans am?
i just want to know for sure before i buy them.

A: im 99 percent sure that gtos fbodys and vettes 93- now all match up

Q: Anyone know if the wheel speed sensor is a press in on the hub of an f-body?
I have a 1995 Pontiac Firebird and the right front wheel speed sensor went out. The only way to buy a front wheel speed sensor is to buy it with the hub attached. It is seems stupid to change the whole thing when there is nothing wrong with the hub. Please help.

A: the speed sensor is in the hub and not removable since the bearing is a one piece unit..sorry

actually its early indication that the bearing is starting to dry up..

but if you dont mind the light and the lack of abs ..you can go without changing it…

Q: Can a truck 454 fit into an f body camaro and bolt to a 700r4?
humm maybe im better off buying a second one for cheap and using the body

A: it will fit, but it will be tight. You may have to remove the power brake booster, and change the master cylinder to a manual type because the truck block has a higher deck height than the car block.

Q: Wald Black Bison Lexus IS F body kit purchase or price?
Where can I purchase or at least look up the price of certain parts (or all of it) of the WALD International: Black Bison: Lexus IS F body kit? I’m really interested in getting the carbon fiber rear spoiler / trunk.

A: http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&q=Lexus%20IS-F%20body%20kit&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wf

LEXUS IS-F is build in japan, for all you people out there, THIS car is not included in the recall.

Q: What exactly makes a 1972 camaro an “F-body”?
Everywhere i look i see “F-body” body this and that, but no where does it explain what makes it an “F-body” the only thing i could come up with is if it was made in Flint and the VIN is an F.

A: It’s just the chassis design and letter code for that design

GM lables the platform (chassis, suspension) with a letter code.

The F body is the mid size, RWD, unibody chassis used to build the camaro and firebird.

All 67-02 camaros and firebirds are “F body” cars

GM used the same chassis, suspension, etc on a few cars in their line up. Like chevy camaro and pont. firebird are almost the same car.. The 80’s chevy monte carlo and the buick regal are almost the same car.

Heres some of the platform codes

A – 1964-80: RWD Cutlass/Skylark/Chevelle/LeMans/Malibu/Regal
A Special – 1968-80: RWD Monte Carlo/Grand Prix

G – 1981-88: RWD Sedan Cutlass/Regal/Malibu/Bonneville
G-Special – 1981-88: RWD Coupe Cutlass/Regal/Monte Carlo/Grand Prix

H – 1971-79: RWD Vega/Astre/Monza wagon/Sunbird wagon
H-Special – 75-80: RWD Monza/Starfire/Skyhawk/Sunbird (excluding wagon)

X – 1962-79: RWD Nova/Omega/Ventura/Apollo/Phoenix (also the original RWD Seville)

Y – 1953-Up: Corvette

Q: How do you push your f^%&^body into a serious relationship?
??????????

A: Why buy the cow if the milk is free. You are just a place for him to dump a load. Like a human semen collector. Nothing more

Q: what does f-body mean in firebird and camaros?
i have a trans am and stuff but i have always wondered what f-body stands for. i always forget to ask ppl who have these cars

A: F body is just the code for the platform (chassis) that they built the car on..

All camaros and firebirds are F body cars.. They both share the SAME chassis, and no other cars but the camaro and firebird used that chassis platform.

F body is not a year range like a couple people said.

Its 1967 to 2002

1st gen f body would be 1967 to 69 camaro/firebird
Second gen F body is 70-81 camaro/firebird
Third gen F body is 82-92 camaro/firebird
4th gen F body is 93-02 camaro/firebird

Q: What bolt-ons does it take to get an LS1 F-body into the 11s without using nitrous?

A: There is a lot of factors that come into play when it comes to modding an LS1. The most common probs will be DA (density altitude) and outside weather conditions heat and humidity. With all that aside back to your question I would say that with good conditions a F-Body with some sort of intake, full exhaust (headers all the way back), LS6 intake manifold if your F-Body is 98-00, a good heads and cam package, a torque converter (for auto tranny), and a set of gears in the rear end would probably get you in the 11’s. Obviously this isn’t set in stone and you could achieve your goal of 11 sec 1/4 mile with other set-ups but this would be the most common way of doing it. It worked for me.

Q: what are some good websites for F-Body Camaro SS?
what are some good websites that do engine builds and NOS/turbos for the F-body?

Q: Mustang V6?
Why are Mustang V6’s so slow? I drive an Altima SE-R and I smoke them on a regular basis. Just wondering why they have such a lack of power.
yes, but they weigh about the same, and the Mustang has a 4.0 vs. my 3.5 engine. Once again, why the big difference in performance? The Mustang has RWD, so that should help from a dig.
BTW – I’m not trying to be cocky or anything… If a stupid high school kid pulls up next to me in his V6 Stang and wants to race, I’ll race them.
I am trying to compare apples to apples here. V6 vs. V6.

A: Because anyone who buys a V6 mustang and not a V8 (like its supposed to be) needs to be humiliated any chance possible! So thanks for showing them why they should have bought a real car!

Q: Mustang v6???
Should insurence for a 16 year old be more cheaper with a v6 since it dont go that fast???

A: Yes, but it depends on a few things. Have you taken a drivers ed course? That will help establish you as a safe driver. Do you make good grades? There’s usually a “good student” discount from most companies. I’d shop around since most insurance companies are wanting new business (you’ll have to go under your parents’ policy) but I’ve seen significant savings when you get a V6 Mustang instead of a GT.

Q: Is there anyway to convert a 2005 mustang V6 to run on ethanol?
I have a 2005 mustang V6 and as far as i know they aren’t supposed to use E85 or any other type of ethanol. So, is there anyway to convert them to run on it? I want to do it because E85 is almost a dollar cheaper than regular around here.

A: most newer cars are easy. It requires a computer tune to add the right amount of fuel, and sometimes bigger injectors to be able to meet that demand. But as far as conversion parts most will only need a new fuel filter, because the fuel lines, pump, and tank are already abe to handle oxygenated fuels(10%ethanol) This does not make it a flex-fuel vehicle, because it doesn’t have a sensor to determine the ratio of fuels, and a computer tune able to adjust to any ratio between 10-85%.

Q: What is a good estimate of the cost of insurance for a Mustang V6?
I am 16 and I have been looking at a manual transmission V6 Mustang for the past couple of years. I have looked around and I am aware of the typical prices that are being sold. I’m trying to focus on the 2007-2010 versions. The 2010 V6 Mustang is the version that has really caught my eye. I need to know how much I should expect to spend/save. Thank You.

A: at 16, the insurance on a 2010 Mustang is going to be about 3 times the amount of your car payment. any newer car like this will have extremely high insurance costs for someone your age, it doesn’t matter if it’s a Mustang or a Chevy Aveo. look dude, you’re young and there’s no point in dropping this kind of cash on a car at your age. you or your parents are going to be making payments for years to come, and it’s only the V6 version. it’s seriously not worth it at all, find something older.

Q: What engines can be swapped for a V6 in a 2001 Ford Mustang with little or no modification?
I have a 2001 For mustang V6. I know you can stick almost any engine in it with the right kind of modifications. I was wondering what engines I could swap that would require the least work and money. I was hoping to put a V8 in it. I want to go upwards of 300 horsepower. Any answers would be appreciated.

A: I’m not a ford guy, this is just from what i’ve heard, but the easiest would be the 4.6 v8. The 2 valve single cam version swap should be easy with a donor motor and wiring. don’t forget the ECU. You could go with a 4 valve dual cam v8 from the cobra or earlier mark VIII, but this motor would probably need drivetrain modifications due to the increase in power over stock v6 components. These are both ford motors and should swap in with the least amount of modifications to existing chassis components.

Q: what do I need to turn my 2000 v6 mustang into a cobra?
I have a 2000 mustang V6 that I want to turn into a cobra. Yes I know it will be cheaper to buy a cobra, and my vin will still say v6. I know all of that. I just need to know what parts I need to make it a cobra. I already have a new engine for it, and will soon get the transmission.

A: You will need the DOHC 4.6L
You will need a TR-3650 transmission
You will need a new clutch
You will need a new driveshaft
You will need the IRS setup from a Cobra
You will need the cobra springs
You will need the cobra struts/shocks
You will need the center 8.8 inch section from a Cobra
You will need the Cobra brakes
You will need the Cobra gauges
You will need the Cobra wheels
You will need new tires
You will need a new exhaust
You will need a new radiator
You will need the cobra spoiler
You will need the cobra from fascia
You will need the cobra fog lights
You will need the cobra seats
You will need the cobra hood
You will need to get everything painted as well

You might new new accessories (AC compressor, power steering pump, alternator, etc.)

I’m sure there are plenty of things I left out.

Q: how do i make my 2000 v6 automatic mustang faster?
I have a 00 mustang v6 automatic. Any suggestions on how to make it faster?? Anyone that knows how to?

A: Yeah but if you put nos into a stock v6 or v8 without getting the heads and pistons changed, there goes your engine. What i reccomend doing is buying a supercharger or a blower installing that, then going from there with cheaper upgrades (flowmaster exhaust, cold air intake, bigger cam, longtube headers) then once you get what you want, then spend the big bucks and get your pistons redone then you can install a NOS kit.

Q: What are some ways to make my mustang 1999 V6 go faster?
I have a 1999 ford mustang V6. I want to make it faster, i already have an K&N cold air intake on it. What are some other things to make it faster?

A: How much money do you want to spend? You can make anything go fast if you have the money. Replace the intake manifold, cam, Heads, Fuel injection, fuel pump, computer, gear box, Rear end, and exhaust manifolds with High performing parts. Have the bottom end rebuilt with high compression pistons and have it balanced and blue print the block. You can pick up after market turbo kits or super charger kits. But they all will take money. So a lot of it depends on what you want to spend and how fast you want to go. Keep in mind that too many modifications will make the car no longer street legal. So watch what modifications you make. As long as you can pass the smog tests in your state your fine with the modification.

Q: What gear ratio should I get for my 2000 Mustang v6?
I have a 2000 Ford Mustang v6 automatic with over-drive. I found about 6 different gears I could get for the 7.5″ differential. I was wondering which one was the best for quickness off the line and/or overall performance for normal street use and highway use. 3.08, 3.27, 3.45, 3.73, 4.10, and 4.56 are the ones I have found.

A: I get this question a lot. The first thing I ask in return is what they plan to do with the car. You have supplied me with what I need to know and I can tell you that the 3.73 will be your best choice. It will give you the initial acceleration that you desire, but it will also leave your highway cruising speed relatively untouched. This is good for two reasons, you will get out of the hole quicker and when you get to cruising speed, you won’t be running 5000rpm at 70mphs.
I would suggest something like the Motive Performance Plus gears:
http://www.americanmuscle.com/mopepl3gefor.html
Along with that you will want to order a bearing kit, so you can have all the gaskets, shims, bearings, etc. that you will need to replace while you are in the rear end. That kit can be found here:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/rearendrebuild1.html

Hope this helps, Good luck!

Q: How could you make a regular v6 mustang accelerate and go probably as fast as a mustang GT?
i bought a ford mustang v6 and im not happy with its performance. i want to try to fix it up so it could be a muscle and a raceing car. so if any one know how i would appreciate it.

A: Sell the V6, buy the GT.

Q: How do I put the starter back on my mother’s 2000 Mustang V6?
How do I put the starter back on my mother’s 2000 Mustang V6?
A friend of mine came over and took the starter off of her 2000 Mustang and didn’t put it back on before he left. How can I put it back on?

A: Mustang’s are petty easy. disconnect the battery, jack the car up, put the starter back in and then the two bolts. reconnect the black ground cable to the engine/transmission(if disconnected) and reconnect the wires to the starter (red to big nut and red/pink or brown/pink to small nut). replace th plastic cap over the wires on the starter, lower the vehicle, reconnect the battery and start the vehicle. Should take you no more than an hour.

Q: Requirements to make supercharged mustang v6 safe?
Hey I’m planning on supercharging my 2007 mustang v6 in a few weeks. Obviously I’ll need to tune the car afterward, but as far as safety goes i need help figuring out what changes are necessary to ensure that the car won’t fall apart at 130 or 140 mph. If anyone could tell me what aftermarket upgrades I’ll need, i would appreciate it very much.

Thanks, Joe.

A: - Rebuild the engine with stronger internals to deal with the higher pressures.
- Upgraded cooling sytem to deal with all the extra heat.
- Upgraded transmission to deal with the extra power.
- New ECU to deal with all the new stuff you added and for tuning.
- Better brakes to deal with a faster car.
- Your car will still be limited to approx. 110 unless you tuner can remove that.
- The V6 models are limited to such a low top speed due to instability above 110 mph caused by soft suspension, lift, and tire ratings. You will want to upgrade everything.
- A stronger rear axle from the Mustang GT or aftermarket to deal with the increased power.

Why didn’t you just get a Mustang GT? Its going to be just as fast, cheaper, more reliable, have some resale value, and still have a full warranty.

Where are you going to do 130 mph? There is no way you will get up to those speeds on a drag strip.

Q: How much horsepower will flowmaster dual exhaust and k&n cold air intake give me on an 01 mustang v6?
I have an 01 Mustang v6 and was wondering how much horsepower these mods will give me. It has 193 hp stock.

A: to the wheels probably 10 hp

Q: Price to install dual exhaust on a 2007 mustang v6?
Hi, I’m planning on converting my 2007 mustang v6 to dual exhaust and running the Ford Racing Performance Parts Exhaust system. Does anyone know how much it will cost to have this part installed and what it will cost to have my bumper trimmed?

Thanks, Joe.

A: Sorry to be off topic; but;
I would stay away from the frpp pack just mainly due to the price. theres a ton of forums for mustangs that I could lead you to selling all the compnents used and cheap from modded gt’s. I would be looking to do this install myself if I got the kit.
I modded my 06 gt myself. It would have been much easier if I had a lift. But I just drove up on some wood in the garage and took my time over a day and a half, just doing little by little and finished. Took off my axlebacks and worked my way up to my stock manifolds. Installed an offroad h, to the factory mids, and finished with the frpp stinger ab’s. Tips are a little tricky to get to line up. I had to adjust my midpipe clamps many times and get someone to hols my tips in place while I tightened.

Q: Is there a way to make my v6 mustang sound close to a v8?
I have a 2007 Mustang V6 and I have put the true dual Flowmaster 44 series pipes on it and it sounds a Little ricey. Is there an Aftermarket cam that will go on my V6 I cant find one anywere and would that make The riceyness go away.

A: frankly, no

Q: How do I search for jobs that involve taking photographs of things like cars and homes for sale?
I thought it would be a good idea as a part time job (mostly evenings / weekends) where I could take pictures of cars for sale, homes for sale, anything related (like cars for sale through dealers for posting online, homes for sale-take photos for realtors, etc). I have a decent camera. I wasn’t sure how to go about looking for part-time jobs like this? Any ideas?

A: Your interests are different. Try searching your local offers for real state and cars. Photography has good demand in Internet.

Q: Is there a listing of recommended cars for sale in the United states, based on low maintenance costs?
I’m looking to purchase a different car. We’ve been raked over the coals by volkswagon over the past 7 years on our passat (3 turbo chargers @ $4,000 ea). I would like some recommendations on some cars that have a good maintence history.

A: Visit the website

Q: What is some good site that has cheap cars for sale?
Im looking for a site that has cars by me that I can buy cheap. I live in Columbus MS. And I need a car that runs good and I can put a body kit on it. Is there any site like that?

A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.deep-ice.com

Q: What should I charge to post used cars for sale on Ebay?
I have my own photography business and want to help used car dealers sell their cars either on Ebay or creating a webpage for them as I have experience in web design also.

A: I would charge a minimum of $250 for your work, plus all fees incured.

Q: What websites can I find used cars for sale on?
Im looking for a website like craigslist and the want ad to find used cars in the albany ny area. Anyone know of any sites?

A: autotrader.com, cars.com, ebay and craigslist are all popular.

Q: where can i find right handed cars for sale in america?
by this i mean a car that has already been imported and/or owned by someone for some time.

i was wondering if there was a website out there where people go to list these cars (other than craigslist or autotrader)
for the record, i do not want a right handed jeep. many of those are available, im just not a jeep person.

Also, to avoid any possible confusion, by right handed i mean where the steering wheel is on the right, like in britain, instead of the left.

A: not here, sorry. Since it’s not feasable, who’d be stupid enough to actually sell them here?

Q: Where can I go to find used cars for sale?
I am in the market for a new car but I refuse to buy from a dealer; mainly because I used to work for one..! I went onto Craigslist and my local newspaper but was unable to find anything. Most of the cars there are now all dealer ads or scams from what I have seen.

I know about eBaymotors but I am really looking for a website or paper where I can search a large number of vehicles locally to my city. (In the U.S.)

A: I always use Craigslist and choose for sale by owner not by dealer. You can also try auctions in your area. Either way I would definetely check the Vehicle History first. I always use CHEAPVINSEARCH.COM for Vehicle History Reports, they are really cheap (only 9.99) , fast and very accurate information!

Q: Anybody know of cars for sale with rims and a stereo?
like a website for custom cars with rims and stereo systems but all for sale and somewhat cheap?

A: You will just have to look at places like eBay, Craigslist or the Auto Trader.

Q: Any one know where I can find cars for sale under $2000 and that will run?
I need a manual transmission car under $2000 that will run. I’ve tried ebay, autotrader, craigslist… please list if you have a car for sale that meets my requirements and also if you know of any sites.

A: If you have the cash to purchase this car, hit the used car managers of dealers near you, you are the holy grail of buyers–one who is actually looking for a manual transmission, these are generally just dead as far as wholesale goes and somewhat hard to retail. tell them you want to buy it with a drive first. I know I let sales persons put together used car buyers and new car trade-ins to help consummate more sales. I couldn’t have been the only one that practiced it.

Q: Questions to ask when buying a used cars? For sale by owner?
What are some good questions to ask when buying a used car that is for sale by the owner?

What are some good bargaining points so that I could lower the price?

All I know right now is that it is a GMC truck. .that’s red. haha.

A: get a carfax report on it. have a mechanic look at it before you buy it. Try to look for defects mechanically and cosmetically.

look on the interior. ask if the car is a salvage title, meaning that it was totaled, but ifxed up anyway. ask if all the matience was done, and if it was, by a professional, or an ameteur? take a test drive and see if it runs smoothly. ask if there was any body work done to it, even if it was a small detn from a fender bender

if the car has been in an accident, that should lower the price into about almost a half. be sure to invest the 30 dollars and get teh carfax, just to see that he isnt lying. if the matiencing wasnt done.. just leave, because its gonna have lots of problems

but other than that, buying it should be decently simple. good luck!

Q: Video’s of cars for sale, posted by owners. Does anyone know the web address?
I recently saw a website that had video’s of cars for sale, posted by the sellers. I believe it was free to post or download a short 1-3 minute video. Does anyone here know the web address? Thanks in advance!!

A: Enjoy!

http://www.hotswap.com/

Q: What are some websites to search for used cars for sale?
Looking for cars from the 80’s and 90’s for sale

A: I look on Ebay…autotrader.com is good too.

Q: Where can I find project cars for sale?
The farthest I could go is up to Harrisburg or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the west. Up to White Lake, New York in the north direction. Anywhere in New Jersey and farthest down south would be maybe Georgia. All kinds of salvage cars and projects. I’m looking for a 1967 Shelby GT500, doesn’t matter what condition. I just want that car.

A: Your chances of finding a real GT500 as a project are remote, there aren’t that many of them around and the ones that are are almost all restored already because of their value. If you do find one in rough shape, it will still be expensive if it’s complete and the numbers match, they are very valuable.

You’d be better off trying to find just a 67 mustang fastback and replicating a GT500. If you do it right it can look and perform pretty much the same as a real one, but of course it will never be worth as much. If you want it to drive and enjoy though, that doesn’t matter much. Actually you can make it better in many ways that the original by making it a “resto mod” using modern components like 5 or 6 speed manual instead of 4, disc brakes all around, EFI instead of a carburetor, things like that.

Here’s a good article on the subject:

http://money.cnn.com/2006/07/19/autos/restomods/index.htm

Sounds like a good project – good luck!

Q: find old classic wrecked cars for sale in florida?
Anyone know where I can find old 30’s-50’s wrecked cars for sale in florida any ads you may know of or any salvage yard.

A: try this it says its in florida. also looks like a nice place to look around

http://www.oldgoldcars.com/

Q: Used car buying, Is there a lemon law on used cars for sale by owner? How do you get a mechanic to look at it?
If you don’t own the car, how can you take the car to have a mechanic look at it? How much does it cost to do this?

A: tell the person that you will not buy the car unless it is checked out by a mechanic if he wants to sell the car he will work out the details about $75 to $100

Q: How much would it cost to install cruise control on a 2010 Ford Focus?
Just wondering how much it would cost to install cruise control on a Ford Focus. How much would it cost to take it in a dealer and how much would it cost to do it myself? $100? $200? Thanks for taking time to read my question.

A: it really depends on the whole package of repairing it. First you need to diagnose the real problem of your car then calculate the repair cost of it. there are easy ways to do do that just follow what this source says:

Q: How much does it cost to replace a rear bumper on a Ford Focus?
The rear bumper in my 2011 Ford Focus is a little cracked. How much would that cost to replace?

A: well new 150 but you need to paint it maybe 200 but it well be easier to fix it

Q: What is the company car tax for the new Ford Focus?
I need to decide on a company car, does anyone know what the company car tax is on the new (2011) Ford Focus?

Thanks in advance!

A: It depends on the version.
Company car tax is a percentage of the list price, and the percentage depends on the car’s official CO2 emissions. As different versions have different CO2 emissions and different prices (see http://www.ford.co.uk/cs/BlobServer?blobtable=MungoBlobs&blobcol=urldata&blobheadervalue1=attachment%3Bfilename%3D%22New+Focus+Pricelist.pdf%22&blobheadervalue2=abinary%3Bcharset%3DUTF-8&blobheadername1=Content-Disposition&blobheadername2=MDT-Type&blobheader=application%2Fpdf&blobwhere=1214386111448&blobkey=id ), the amount of tax due is different.

You can look it up at Parkers at http://www.parkers.co.uk/company-cars/tax-calculator/

Remember that this calculation assumes the car has no options. Add options such as metallic paint and the amount of tax due will increase.

Q: How do you fix messed up volume and track controls on Ford Focus Steering Wheel?
I have a 2009 Ford Focus. When I press the steering wheel volume up button, the volume goes up 1 tic and the audio source changes. The same thing happens when I press the next track button. Is there a way to fix this so that the volume only controls the volume, and the track controls only control next and previous track functions?

Thanks in advance.

A: Sounds like a AUDIO UNIT Issue that was not programmed properly, or AUDIO UNIT itself.
Seen it before. Same issues.

Q: What is the best repair manual for removing a 2000 Ford Focus engine?
I’m removing an engine from a 2000 Ford Focus LX and need a manual that provides good instructions and illustrations.

A: The factory service manual often on Ebay in CD format if available or Haynes, Gregory’s manual in some countries.

Q: what is the biggest engine will fit in a 2005 ford focus?
what is the biggest engine will fit in a 2005 ford focus sport 1.6 i am looking along the lines of a 3.2 v6 or something like that.

A: In your case i think i would just put another inline 4 but one with 16 valves so therefore you will be producing the increased hp you seem to be looking for. Bigger isnt always better….

Q: What is a Ford Focus Station Wagon actually called?
I recently bought a 2000 Ford Focus Station Wagon. I’m trying to look for parts and tires but there is no option for station wagon in the model category. My model choices for a Focus are…. LX, SE, ZTS, and ZT3. Which one do I choose for this?

A: Your 2000 Focus wagon is an SE sub model. FC is correct in regard to the parts being interchangeable, most mechanical parts from any Focus will work on your car. Try your local auto recycling yard or junk yard, they should be able to find the parts you need (even the tires). The parts will most likely be for minimal cost. Best of luck!

Q: Is it possible to buy an aftermarket LED tail/brake light package for a ford focus in Calgary?
I have a 2003 Ford Focus ZX5 Hatchback. Also, how much would it be? Would I be able to install it myself? Where can I find one?

A: As long as they’re legal in Canada, any major auto parts store should carry them.. else, JC Whitney will be happy to ship them to you, legal or not.

Q: why wouldnt a 2006 ford focus start after running out of gas?
my 2006 2.0 ford focus ran out of gas and after filling it with gas i turn the key to start the engine and it wont even turn over

A: a few things you can try:
jump it
pull out the fuel relay fuse and put it back in
check the fuel cut off switch

but since its not turning over i would bet its the battery so jumping it is your best bet

Q: My Ford Focus Radio says MP3 on it but I’m wondering is it compatible with my ipod mp3 player?
I just bought a ford focus year 2005 and the radios says mp3 but I’m not sure if it’s actually compatible and/or if I’d need a connector for it?

any help is appreciated.

A: It most likely means that it will play MP3s burned onto a CD. It will only play an iPod if there is a jack on the front of it for a cable.

If you want to play your iPod, the best thing to get is an FM transmitter. They usually will have a charging feature as well to keep your batteries up and will work with pretty much every car radio.

Q: My dad got the new ford focus how do I play my iPod on it?
I can’t figure out how to play my iPod in the ford focus. I press the media button and say USB then say playlist and then it lists like 3 artists but I have like 200 artists how do I play the songs and artists I want to.

A: check if the aux jack is working fine on ur focus.

Q: Do lowering springs from a 2001 Ford Focus fit in a 1995 Honda Prelude?
My friend has some lowering springs that hes selling, he had them on his 2001 ford focus and I was wondering if they fit in a 1995 Honda Prelude. Help please.

A: Um mm, they are two completely different cars from different car companies and years. So no, that should be the obvious answer.

Q: How do I replace the airbags in my ‘02 ford focus?
I bought a used 02 ford focus that doesn’t have airbags.
i called around and it’s going to be roughly $2200 to get it all replaced professionally.

Is there a way where I can just do it myself?

A: Cant be done yourself, you have to pay the dealership to do it. No airbags in that car means it was in a pretty violent wreck

Q: How to replace a A/C evaporator from a 2001 ford focus?
i need to replace an evaporator from a 2001 ford focus. i already tryed ones but i couldnt. Im a decent mechanic so i know im going to be able to do it. if some1 just tells me who to take it apart.

A: i have tried its really hard ive worked on cars for 6 years and i took it so a shop

Q: can i attach an ipod to a ford focus 2003 cd player?
I have a Ford Focus SE from 2003 and I would like to be able to listen to music from my ipod.
I can’t find any audio outputs and and I tried the FM transmitter but I didn’t like how it works. Is there any other possibility I can attach my ipod to the cd player?

A: you need to install this interface, it will plug on the back side of the radio
and give you a direct audio input ,for ipod mp3 or any audio device

Q: What is the long-term future of ford and fiat cars in india?
Some people say that popularity of ford cars in india is continuously diminishing in india. What is the truth?

A: Ford cars have a high after market cost, and Fiat is sold by Tata. Both have a good future in India

Q: Any Australians who is an expert of Ford used cars?
what is the difference between a Ford Festiva GLXi and Ford Festiva Trio?

My sister wants to buy one of these cars, but she doesn’t know the diffrence!

A: easy – they both have different ‘equipment levels’. they will look the same on the outside though.

i can tell you that the trio is always a three door and i’m pretty sure it’s the entry level/base model.

if you want to do a proper vehicle comparison go to http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au/vehicle/index.php and do the vehicle comparison.

it’ll have all the info she needs

Q: Are ford cars a good car too buy for 17 year olds first car?
Im 17 and i found a 1991 ford escort Gt and my step dad is a mechanic and he and his boss found the car and so he fixed up the car and wants to sell me the car for 350.00 which is a good price because he put all new everything on the car and it runs good just my dad hates fords and i want to know if this is the right choice for me.

A: OK, your step dad isn’t selling you that car. He’s giving it to you, with a nominal payment as an encouragement for you to care for the car and understand the value of money. 1) You’ll almost surely never get such a great price on a (probably lovingly refurbished) car again in your life, and 2) This isn’t just a gift car, it’s a bonding event with your step dad.

Be smart; take the car and thank the man for caring about you! If the car only lives another six months, it’ll be well worth it and “the right choice” for you.

ADDED:
Re-reading your Question, I’ve realized you might be worried about this car coming between you and your actual dad. Only you can make that determination. IMO, the argument that “the price was just too right” might defuse that problem.

Q: How long do modern Ford cars last?
I’m thinking a 2000 Ford taurus wagon with almost 132K on it. There’s something wrong with the lock system, but other than that, it’s fine. If any of you have a Ford around that age and with a lot of miles on it, tell me.

A: 1986 5.0L Thunderbird with 225,000 miles…….retired from service running….destined for the drag strip with it’s new Boss 351 Cleveland. Old Fords never die, they just get hot-rodded.

Q: Why do they say Ford cars suck?
I drive a ‘97 Ford T-bird with 108,877 miles on it,A/C cold as alaska, original motor and trans. I have no major problems with my car,I drive 37 miles round trip to and from work everyday,so it’s my daily driver. I work in an Acura dealership fixing Acuras. Mostly transmissions on TL’s and MDX. If Fords suck, why am I able to drive to work everyday to go fix Acuras that are broken? And no because I’m a mechanic doesn’t mean I fix my car. I haven’t touched my car other than change the oil regularly.

A: FORDS ARE THE BEST!!!!!

Q: What is the difference between overdrive and drive in ford cars? When should you use them?
We’ve just always drove the car in overdrive. I’m afraid of what will happen if we don’t.

A: only use drive for towing .i was told to always keep in overdrive b/c it saves on gas

Q: What year did ford stop using oil bath air cleaners in their cars.?
I have a 57 ford custom car with v8 that I want to switch over to paper but I want to find the oldest possible paper air cleaner that ford made so I don’t modernize the look of the engine compartment.
Ok, apparently we need more details, What was the last year ford used oil bath air cleaners on their full size cars with V8 engine. No guessing, I need someone who knows the answer. Thanks, ARB

A: 1962–1963 or thereabouts

Q: What are some good Ford Cars?
I’m thinking about buying a Ford Escape for my first car, and I was wondering are they good cars?? Any suggestions for good Ford cars?

A: I’ve always been happy with Ford products.

Q: Do Ford body shops do good work on Ford cars, will the paint match?
I have a grabber blue 2010 Mustang GT and I got side swiped (hit and run)

I was wondering if the Ford dealers do good body shop work and will the paint match?

How long will it take for it to dry?

Thank You

A: Hey Itsme,

Ford body shops will have all the CORRECT parts and the MATCHING paint for all Ford vehicles…it will be all OEM stuff, not reproduction or knock off parts and paint. Their auto body repair personnel are just as qualified as the tech’s in an independent body shop. I would think you’re safe going to your dealer and having the work done there.

Q: My use of the word dago was the name of a certain kind of front axle for older Ford cars?
I needed to know the way to spell it not to be told it was derogatory or anything like that. It was a descriptive name of a axle that had been modified to lower the front of old cars with a I beam axle.

A: Your spelling is correct.

Q: How does the size of the Honda Civic compare to the size of the Ford cars?
I was wondering if anybody can tell me if the 2010 Honda Civic Sedan Hybrid is comparable in size to the Ford Focus or the Ford Fusion.
Is the same size as the Ford Fusion or the Ford Focus because the Ford Fusion is bigger than the Ford Focus
I am hoping it is closer in size to the Ford Fusion because I need a car at least that size

A: about the same as a focus, the fusion is larger.

Q: Will there come a day when Chevy and Ford cars will be gone?
And all the cars on the road will be Kias, Hondas, Toyotas, Tatas (Indean cars), Geelys (Chinese cars), BMWs etc – no more American cars.

A: Shop around and then judge for yourself on quality and bang for the buck. Remember that Ford is manufacturing Nissan now.

Mercedes is Chrysler.

GM is …well GM.

Q: Can somebody give me a website that shows all of the Ford cars ever made?
I am doing a social science fair project on how ford has evolved and i need to know what car came out last for ford. somebody plz help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thnx

A: http://wikicars.org/en/Ford

i stumbled upon this site once while playing on the internet.

it shows every car: current, historic, concept, special/ competition, and racing.

it gives you history and links and lots of stuff.

the car lists i mentioned is at the bottom.

hope this helped you. (please select as best answer…you know it is)

Q: How is Ford cars and trucks doing in selling now?
What percentage of sales is Ford vehicles doing now? Are they selling better than Honda or Chevrolet vehicles now

A: Ford’s sales went up 20% on account of the C4C program. They are selling better than Chevy, but not Honda.

Q: Does anyone else notice the increase of Ford cars on the road?
It’s amazing how a company that doesn’t take bailout money from the government can be so appealing to consumers. I love it!

A: Agree with you.

Not only do you see more Fords on the road, but they are coming out with some new models that are getting positive reviews. Sometimes people / companies will not change until they have to.

Saw an ad last week where Ford Focus hybrid vehicle has the best gas mileage – even beats the Toyota Pruis. And Consumer Reports has been giving the Focus good reviews for years.

The problem Detroit has is that for years they focused on volume – not quality. Americans now think Japanese made means higher quality. While in China, American cars are preferred over Japanese models. Strange isn’t it?

Q: What changes to make a Nissan Skyline R-34 to be legal in the USA?
What changes have to be made to make a Nissan Skyline R-34 to be legal in the USA?
I was just curious, because I am always reading about people having problems with them.
I also know that you can legally import them it just cost money to make the changes, also that you do not have to directly follow state law because federal law overrides any state laws.

Now I just want to know what the changes are.

A: the R34s to my knowledge are illegal to import to the USA period

why not get a sexy 1972 Nissan Skyline ( NO SMOG needed)
- I bought mine for 9 grand.

as first poster said you can only get the R33, though I’ve seen a couple R32’s

Its a pain in the ass getting them legalized especially if you live in california
So my guess it would cost you anywhere from 35+ grand

I’ve seen some for sale on craigslist in states that do not require smog checks just visual
may have better luck on some that are already here

Q: i would like to buy a nissan skyline?
i want to buy a nissan skyline. i live in texas so its going to be imported. which one should i get? where should i send it to, to get the saftey features it needs to pass inspection? then what should i add to it to make its horsepower and torque sky rocket? how much do u think this is going to cost?
strykertech- money is not a problem.

A: If money is no object buy a New Nissan GT-R from your local Nissan dealer for around $93.000 you will have a super fast safe car that is warranted and street legal. Most all the good SKYLINE Japan Spec cars will have rust and right hand drive and have been driven very hard. It won’t be long till Texas has emissions testing state wide. Buying a car that was not imported to the USA may be very difficult to purchase parts for. And after 10 to 12 model years even Japan dealers may not stock parts to repair that car.

Q: How to get the backseat out of a 1987 Nissan Skyline TI?
Hi im having trouble getting the back seat out of the skyline i jsut boughtt for my first car, i want to pull it out to shampoo everything underneath as well as the seat itself but it wont come out. Any ideas?

A: Look through the nissan forums.

Q: How to import a nissan skyline GTR from japan to US?
How much it would be?,how to do it? PS.I know it is possible becase here in Puerto Rico there are 2 skyline gtr r34…just help me how to do it please…
how to do it?,how much money I need? I love to have the R32 GTR its my favorite.

A: It would be worth finding out what mods are needed to the car where you live first as each country requires different mods to be done to many cars to meet there laws,my Skyline in the UK has had a few mods to meet or regs and its the same Worldwide.
This is a good idea to do first as you wouldn’t want to get a car and drive it around after paying good money and having the cops take it of you.
This is the the est thing to do first as it will give you an idea of budget.
The GTR 34 is a classic car Worldwide and the price is going to be high so with shipping cost and any mods it may be worth looking also at the GTT version which is the single turbo version but still can be modded to scary bhp figures but is a cheaper car to buy..
Then its a matter of finding an import company IE

http://speedierimports.com/

Its ideal to use companies that import and export due to them sourcing ones that meet your spec and watch over the import without any hassle to you and its safer with your money..

.US wise the R33 Spec 2 is a safer option to import due to it being allowed with the Motorex data, any skyline pre the law change are allowed but after the change only these models are allowed.

Q: How can you make a Nissan Skyline legal in California?
What procedures would you have to do?
ive herd since its so dam powerful, you need to get so many licenses just to have it here,so what do you have to go through and how much will all the bills cost?

also, whats the popular years of skylines,i know GTR skyline is one of the best, but whats one of the most common/best year of skyline?

A: Stop before you make an idiot of yourself.

Q: IS a 1990 nissan skyline a girls car or a boys car?
I just wanted to know if a 1990 nissan skyline is a boys car or a girls car.THANKS.

A: it’s a man’s car, the 1998 R34 is the manliest, ofcourse.

Q: What place can you import a Nissan Skyline?
I live in the United States and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about importing this car. Or if you can build a skyline with U.S. standards.

A: Try on

http://www.skylineowners.com/forum/index.php

There are plenty of US owners on there from different states, its seems some states are more relaxed than others so it will be cheaper to modify maybe.
Also look at the GTS GTT models against the GTR as at least you are starting off cheaper.
http://www.carad.com/showroom/showroom.cfm?status=-1&user_number=9684499&sc=0&mode=1&tad=1&key_word=skyline&search=Search
some for sale on there in the US if there any good for you.
Your best joining the forum and chatting to US owners on there for tips and advice.
Good luck with your find there a great car and great fun and worth the money, just for the experience of sitting in it everyday and having that huge smile everytime. The worst thing is leaving it and having to check on it all the time.

Q: What exhaust system sounds like a nissan skyline?
Im getting an exhaust system for my 2003 350z and was wondering if i could find one that sounds like a skyline. possibly the one from fast and furious.

A: The 350z sounds great with a nice exhaust setup, the Skyline sound also does sound nice and a mix of exhaust setups give the sound but the real sound comes from the Skylines RB engines(in RB Skyline models).
Iam sure there is a 350z setup which sounds ideal to you try youtube etc to hear what other owners have added.

Q: which is more powerful,nissan skyline or a V8?
Hello
In a year i can start my driving lessons and i really like cars and all.My favourite car is the nissan skyline, though i was just wondering which was more powerful, a nissan skyline or v8 commodore.

I know skyline have a smaller engine (2.5l) but there also turbo, so which would be more powerful?

Thank you.

A: It’s very hard to compare 2 large groups of cars and say which brand/model is more powerful. Because you mentioned the 2.5L engine, I assume you’re talking about the R32, R33 and R34 Skylines. Well, I think that the stock power figure for the 2.5L turbo engine is 182kW, for the R33 anyway. Power figures will vary from model to model, and I guarantee you, that no matter which Skyline you buy in Australia, it’s not going to be stock.

V8 Commodores also have varying power figures, from something like 125kW out of the ooooooooold 253ci, up to about 317kW I think for some of the top of the range VE HSVs. Now obviously it’s not just power that makes a car quick, it’s power to weight. And you’ve gotta get that power to the ground somehow, but that’s another story. I think it would be a fair bet that a top of the range VE HSV would f*cking ANNIHILATE a stock R33 2.5L turbo, but then who drives a STOCK Skyline??? Anyone? Didn’t think so.

It’s really up to you what you get mate, I’d say go for the Skyline (if you can) since that’s the car you’ve always wanted. But remember this:
- You’ll get an older car for your money
- You will have problems with insurance, especially if it’s turbo
- Older cars are not usually what they once were. Worn suspension bushings, buggered shocks, slop in the steering joints, just because the car handled really well back in the day, doesn’t mean it’s gonna be carving up the corners now.
- Cops man, cops. A P-plater in a Skyline? Calling all cars!!

And someone mentioned buying a Vette. Umm, not too likely in Australia buddy.
Oh, and to the people who are flat-out saying you can’t have a Skyline for your first car: I’ve known a few people who have had Skylines as their first car. You don’t have to be ultra-rich, but the cops definitely paid them a lot of attention.

Q: I want to know what i need to know about making a Nissan Skyline legal.?
I live in CA, I plan on going up to Canada, BC and buying a 1990-1992 Nissan Skyline GT-R or GTS-T. What do i have to do to LEGALIZE it for the States? as much detail would be awesome.

A: Yourself will have to do your research for where you live as many will say the Skyline is street illegal in the US but infact it differs between states, example some states require the car to be made LHD whilst others dont mind, some states require added safety features on older Skyline models. Some states will not allow the Skyline at all,but all states require the car to meet emission regs.
The easiest it bring in is the R33 96-98 models due to added safety features being stock at this point and these where models tested by Motorex as for the Motorex issue they didnt go to jail for selling bad Skyline although the false testing didnt help. But with the right money and mods other Skyline are creeping in and i see som many R34 Skyline on the net in the US nowdays.
So all those that say the Skyline is illegal it is and it isnt again it depends where you live and what puts people off is the cost of mods to make it meet US regs hence putting young buyers off and older buyers usually go for newer models of cars.

GTS,GTS-T,GT,GTT,GTS-4 models are still great cars and offer great power and are cheaper to buy overall.

I would find out first from your local Transport office to see which mods are needed if allowed on your state,True legends all are well before there time and offer great power and headturning looks. And i suppose you would be able to make any money spent after its been sold.

Q: Where can I buy a Nissan Skyline in USA?
I would like to but a Skyline but don’t want to go to Japan to get one. Where do I go.

A: you really cant. you can modd one out to make it almost exactly like a skyline but even then you wont have an actuall skyline. and even if you can buy one in the US its really not worth it because they put limitations on the power of the engine. there are a few places that will convert one for you like JDM but its not worth the money theres alot of other cars out there that will smash on a skyline or if you got the money get the new skyline GT-R that just came out it kinda looks like a 350z

Q: How would I register a Nissan Skyline in Arizona if I imported it from japan?
I am buying a couple of right hand drive skylines (all between the years 94-99) from out of the country and importing them. I know ppl have them registered in the US cause i have sen them driving around im just curious to how to do it.

A: 1) the cars will not leave the dock until you post a huge bond and letter of intent to make them conform to DOT standards for the model year (94 – 99)
2) if you’re lucky, they will grant you about 60 days to comply with all the safety, emissions and crash standards.
3) THEN, the cars will have to be inspected, emissions certified before you can register them. Failure to comply will mean the immediate seizure of the automobiles and they will be held until your hearing is over then crushed — at your expense. There are businesses that will handle this procedure for you — for a price (goodbye college fund).

Dude, you will be much better off to just buy a couple that have already been certified. This branch of the government is the only one besides the military that actually works as it should so your paperwork being lost or postponed won’t happen.

Q: Where could I get a Nissan Skyline GTR R34?
where could i get the Nissan Skyline GTR R34 in the western United States?

A: import it from japan go to a search engine like yahoo.com,google.com etc…and type in import nissan skyline gtr r34 ive been doin reserch on this because as soon as i get enough money im going to import one myself =)

Q: Where can I find some nice quality Nissan Skyline videos?
Where can I find some nice quality Skyline videos?
All I could find was on YouTube, but I don’t want to download those.I want something that’s mpg or avi or wmv or something that is nice to watch.
Thanks! Love&Peace!
Ok,my bad.I should have said downloadable videos with a Nissan Skyline R34.Or am I stuck with the luck of coming over such great vids by downloading random torrents?

Q: What car is better? Nissan Skyline Or a Nissan Silvia?
I got a Nissan Cefiro and Im selling it for $3,000, and I got $3,000 in the bank, so Ill have a $6,000 budget, Im looking for a nice Nissan Skyline or Nissan Silvia, but I dont know which one is better for the price Im paying. I dont want a hardout project car, Just something that turns heads and a grunty engine. Which one should I choose?

A: you wont have enough for a non project version of either.

cheers

Q: Mustang Cobra transmission wont shift out of 2nd?
We have a 2003 Cobra mustang, it originally had a 6 speed manual, but after my grandpa lost his leg they changed it to a automatic. Before it broke they rev-ed it really high in second, now it wont shift out of second. What could be wrong, what should I check. I heard that it might be a transmission fuse, is this true?

A: Ive always had problems with 2nd gear in my 96 gt. Most likely the trans will need to be rebuilt but if you dont drive on it they might be able to just replace the 2nd gear part without rebuilding the rest. Goodluck

Btw you should come over and join svtperformance.com. Great site for cobra’s, lots of help there.

Q: Can anyone tell me where i can find a good mustang cobra for under 26K?
I am looking for a mustang cobra or a saleen mustang and I was looking for sites that have really good deals and i was wondering if anyone knew a good site?

A: Hey bro, I own a 2004 silver mustang cobra. I went to Ebay and I bought it 2 years ago with only 6k miles on it for 26,500. It was a phenominal deal for me and the whole process was great! I deffinatley recomend it. Take a look, you can get a really good deal there. At that time I could not find 04 cobras anywhere and they were going for $29,000 to $34,000 in the traders and at the dealers. I found around 10 of them on Ebay and spent about 3 weeks bidding on different ones and finally won mine for that price. It cost me $800 to ship it from Pittsburg to Arizona. It would have been $500 but I had it shipped in an indoor, air conditioned carrier and had it shipped express so it only took 5 buisness days instead of 10-14.

Q: I have a 2005 ford focus zx3, should I put a V8 engine. I was thinking about a cobra mustang engine.?
How much would a 93 mustang cobra engine cost, and an estimate on the mechanic services. Would i need to make any other acomidations for the bigger engine.

A: That has got to be the funniest question I’ve seen in a long time. Ok we’ll start with the obvious. You’re trying to basically convert your front wheel drive focus into a rear wheel drive muscle compact. The first problem is fitting the engine. You’ll likely have to cut into the firewall, and then change the underbody to accept the larger transmission. Then you’ll need to get a custom driveshaft made and mount a rear end. Making custom mounts for the engine, transmission and rear end will probably run you a LOT. Then you’ll have to fit all of the accomidating accessories and cooling system along with it….do completely custom wiring and get a Cobra ECU and probably have to modify that. Even with perfect wiring none of your stock gauges will work so you’ll need custom gauges for EVERYTHING. All in all, you could easily spend over 15 grand on this and still only have 240 hp, and a car that is completely undrivable because it was never meant to be rear wheel drive. Or….for 3-5 grand you can get a turbo kit and fuel system and clutch and be making 300hp…with no bad side effects. Look into that instead.

Q: What will my 1998 mustang cobra run?
I have a 1998 Ford Mustang cobra svt that has a 4.6 dohc 305hp and all i did to it was put 373 gears in it, put a bbk H pipe with magnaflow catback exhaust which opens it up and a JLT cold air intake. What will my 0-60 be and what will be my quarter mile time?

A: your engine was rated at 305hp at the crank and perhaps turns out about 275-280 at the wheels (cold air intake and exhaust adds a little power at the crank, but really need headers and re tune of engine management system to get the increase to the rear wheels).

3.73 gears help….so your 0-60 time may be in the range of 5.8 (which was rated time of a new 98 cobra….but your engine is of course older now so and maybe a touch over 6 sec.)

in terms of the 1/4 you will run in the range of this guy, his convert is generally slower, but he is running with a chip

http://www.dragtimes.com/Ford-Mustang-Timeslip-12822.html

you can get into the 12’s on a stock engine’s internals…like this guy

http://www.dragtimes.com/Ford-Mustang-Timeslip-6503.html

but you will require short shot of nitrous.
he got into low 12’s with nitrous, minor engine modifications and better exhaust set up than yours, plus he is running 4.10’s

the other answerers (especially Sandy G) are seriously clueless and have no idea what it takes to run in the 11’s

cheers 04 cobra , built out-supercharged, 2.3 whipple blower at
15 p.s.i. measured at 575rwHP on a dyno (on 94 octane street gas)

Q: Where can i find a 1978 Mustang Cobra II engine?
i am thinking about buying a 1978 Mustang Cobra II, but it doesnt have an engine. and i cannot find one online. so i am asking you all for help on finding one please!!
thank you and have a God Blessed day

A: If you want a stock or any engine I would choose carefully as this is going to be an investmant in the long road, check out the Mustang forum websites for some great ideas and options that will help you along the way.
Then keep your eye out for any old cars that sit around in peoples yards might get a good motor, try local junk yards, or spend a little and order a Jasper motor, or see what local part stores can get. They sell whole motors and at the least give you an idea on prices.

Q: Is it true that the 2000 V6 Mustang Coupe came with the cobra suspension package?
I have heard off a website that I cant seem to find anymore that the year 2000 Ford Mustang came with the cobra suspension package because that was the year that cobra mustangs took the year off to fix some issues that they had with the 1999 Cobra. Is this true?

A: I own a 1999 Mustang GT and not even that came with a cobra suspension. I wouldnt think that they would spend the money on a 2000 V6. Ive driven a friends 2000 V6 and trust me it did not feel like it had any performance suspension.

Q: How much money is a 1978 King Cobra Mustang Worth?
I have a 78 King Cobra Mustang and would like to know about how much money it would be worth? It is fully restored original on the inside and out. It runs great! I have the original rims but they not on it at the moment. There is not anything wrong with the car. There were only 5,000 of these cars made. Thinking about selling it but don’t want to undersell.

A: It just sold one with 160k careful miles, garaged all the time. I was a great car with fading on the paint and hood decal.

It sold on ebay for $3k and I was a little disappointed as one in worse condition sold for 3500, but I still think its the best place to sell it since there is such a large audience and it’s a low demand car.

Just set your reserve for want you want and then start low. The bidders will set the value.

Q: Where to put posi-trac oil additive in rear axle? 1997 mustang cobra?
need to put posi-trac oil additive in the rear axle of my mustang cobra. Got under there and looked around a little bit but couldnt see where to put it.

Where does it go and any other tips would be great. Thanks!
not seeing it anywhere
is it on the backside or the front side?
whats it look like?

A: It is on the drivers side front section of the rear-end housing, right beside of where the driveshaft is connected to the rear-end. On a level surface, loosen plug with a 1/2 or 3/8 ratchet and short extension (The plug has a square hole in it!) Fill it just until the oil starts coming back out of the hole, then put the plug back in. Done! Good Luck!

Q: What is the difference in the engine of a 1998 mustang cobra and a 1998 gt mustang?
Are the internals different? Cam Specs? Heads or intake? What would i have to do to mod a 1998 gt to make an engine comparable to that of a stock 1998 cobra?

A: Go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Mustang#Fourth_generation_.281994.E2.80.932004.29
and here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Mustang_SVT_Cobra#1996.E2.80.931998

Q: Difference between Mustang Cobra and Mustang GT?
I don’t mean the new mustang GT’s either, I mean the Mustang Cobra and GT that came out around 2002. The fourth generation. Reason Im asking is Im 16 and getting my first car from a friend. It’s a 2003 Mustang but Im not sure if its a Cobra or a GT, which is better too?

A: 03 Gt is a 2v sohc v8 that will put down around 260hp in a dyno. the 03 Cobra is a supercharged 4v Dohc v8 that puts down around 380hp at the dyno. The cobra has a different hood and front bumper as well as a spoiler that is directly on the trunk and the rear bumper says COBRA on it.

Q: How much horsepower can a stock 1999 mustang cobra engine take?
I have a 1999 cobra and i was wondering how much hp the engine can take with the STOCK RODS AND PISTONS.

A: 400-450 hp. so no more than 8 psi boost on a supercharger on a safe tune

Q: How much money is a 1967 Shelby Mustang Cobra GT500 worth? Are they hard to find?
I heard that Cobra didn’t come until 1968 though, I just put 1967 because that be preferred. However, if Cobra didn’t come until 1968, then my question would pertain to the ‘68 model.

A: The Cobra name was not added to the Shelby Mustang until 1968. However, Shelby Mustangs were built from 1965-1970. A 1967 Shelby GT500 is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Value can be determined by originality, documentation to prove that it is the real thing, color(s), transmission type, and other options.
Sellers are still currently asking top dollar for these cars, but the truth is that their value is down, along with most other collectible muscle cars of the era. Very clean examples have not sold on eBay lately for the $150,000 – $175,000 range and they did not demand these prices at the most recent national auctions. I would expect to realistically pay about $125,000 for a very nicely restored example with some desirable options and color combos.
For 1968, the Shelby Cobra Mustangs brought about $120,000 at auction for pristine, documented examples, though I do not recall any “KR” models being sold. KR’s (for “King of the Road”) usually command more money and convertibles more still as they are more scarce. Still, the value of everything is down given the state of the economy and I think even a KR convertible is probbaly right around $150,000 right now. The 1967 market has always been unpredictable so it’s a bit tough to call. The other years’ value are more predictable.
Production:
1967 GT500 fastback- 2,048 (no convertibles made in 1967*)
1968 KR500 fastback- 933
1968 KR500 convertible – 318
I don’t recall how many GT500 fastbacks and convertibles were made for 1968, I only remember the production numbers for the KR’s. And keep in mind that in 1967 and 1968 you could get Shelby Mustangs with either a small block engine (GT350) or big block engine (GT500). You didn’t ask about the GT350 car so I didn’t go into detail. My answer is long enough and I apologize if it is confusing.
Anyway, hope this helps!

Q: what should a buy a 2002 mustang cobra or a gt and buy a aftermarket supercharger?
Hi im looking to buy sometype of mustang which would you think would be better buys a mustang gt and gettin a supercharger for it or buy a stock cobra? i have found sallen superchargers for around 5k im not looking to invest more than 20g in a a car tho
sorry i was meaning 03

A: I don’t think there is a 2002 Cobra. There is a 2001 which wasn’t supercharged and a 2003 which was.

If you want a supercharged Mustang get one that came built for it and get the 03. Or you can get the GT/01 Cobra and rebuild the engine to handle the supercharger which unless you can do the work yourself is going to cost a lot of money.

Q: How much gear oil in a 1997 Mustang Cobra?
Flushing my gear oil in my cobra. How much to put in to fill to the max?

A: Not sure exactly but I always bought 3 quarts and had some left when I setup gears for people. Somewhere around 2 1/2 would be my guess but not over 3.

Q: should i get a cobra or a GT mustang?
I have another car and i am looking to modify somthing else on the side. I have 6-7K to work with. I could find a 1996-1997 cobra mustang with +80-160K miles or a new model GT with less miles and have more money to modify it. Here is the thing go with the resale value or mods. I would have to yank the engine in the GT to do cams which i would do so at that time i could just rebuild it and port and polish the intake. And the cobra would stay with stock internals and either of them would get either a supercharger or turbo at one time or anther.

A: i’d personally go with the newer gt..

Q: Are a Trans am and a Firebird the same thing?
Obviously the firebird is on the hood, but why two names? Was the Firebird a model of the trans am, like the Stingray was a model of the corvette?

A: Trans Am is nothing but an option package on a normal Firebird. There are no fundimental differences in the car, just engine power, tires, and suspension adjustments. You also get slightly different exterior and interior trim to set it apart. You could generally create the level of performance in a normal car by selecting separate options like upgraded engine and handling suspensions.

Q: What are the stock speaker specs for a 1997 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am?
I have been looking for hours to find out what kind of speakers I have in my car from the factory. It is a 1997 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am convertible. They are 6″ round speakers, not 6.5″ but I am looking for the ohm rating, wattage, etc. If anyone knows where to find this information, please reply, thanks!!!

A: On most “factory” speakers if you remove them, the info your looking for is on the back of the magnet.

Q: The power windows of my 1977 Trans Am are moving very slowly and they get stuck?
The power windows of my 1977 Trans Am are moving very slowly and they get stuck, I have to help them with my hands. Is there a simple remedy for this or is it a common problem in which my power window motor must be replaced?

A: being that old the window motors are probably getting weak and need replaced but you can take the inner door panels off and try lubing up the window channels with lithium grease first to see if that helps the problem.

Q: What exhaust sounds best on 1998 Trans Am Firebird?
What exhaust sounds best on 1998 Trans Am Firebird?
I want something deep sounding, not loud idling.
Flowmaster, MagnaFlow, Borla? I heard you lose power with Flowmaster, is that true with any exhaust?
Would it be better to just get muffler or what would benefit be to get catback also?

A: id throw on a magnaflow catback or a glass pack cherry bomb

Q: Is there a significant performance difference between a ls1 Pontiac Trans Am and a ls1 Pontiac Firehawk?
SLP claims that the Firehawk is more powerful than a Trans Am. Is the difference in performance of the two vehicles noticeable?

A: T/A
305 hp at 5,200 rpm; 335 ft·lbf (454 N·m)
SLP Firehawk
330 hp (335 after 2000, 345 in late 2002 models equipped with the optional Blackwing intake.)

I’ve ridden in,drove and tuned the pcm’s in both. I wouldn’t pay a large premium for a firehawk over a T/A unless your wanting a collector or something.
The firehawk is a T/A with bolt ons and a tune. Buy the T/A and spend the cash you save on the bolt on’s you prefer instead.
Firehawk is a sweet car though,if the difference was a couple thousand and they were both clean I would buy the firehawk over the T/A IF I had the money to burn anyway.
just to be different.

Q: Can any one tell me what parts exactly are in the Blackbird Trans Am Phase 2?
I would like to find out what is exactly in the 2002 Blackbird Trans. What exact parts are in it and possibly where i can buy them. Money is no object here i just want to turn my trans am into a blackbird!!! Please help!

A: Seats, steering wheel, glove box, ashtray, cigarette lighter, ashtray, motor, transmission, wheels, shocks, brakes, etc…

Q: I have a 1995 Pontiac Trans Am and I keep ripping transmission mounts. What can I do?
I have a 1995 Pontiac Trans Am with the LT1 350 I was wondering why I keep ripping transmission mounts? I am on my 3rd trans mounts now and am sick of having replace them. I do get on it sometimes but dont think that would rip them that fast. Now they are the OEM mounts but I dont know if anyone can help that would be great thank you.

A: The only way you can rip a tranny mount that bad, is if the engine motor mounts have so much play that the motor lifts up high enough to tear a tranny mount. What you are talking about is physically impossible if the driver side engine mount is not damaged, the tranny has to lift, and twist at the same time to do this. I suggest you pull the driver side motor mount off, its torn in half, but with a ton of motor you cant tell. I check used truck motor mounts in the past, the torque which goes in the direction the fan spins, can tear in half. put it in reverse, and keep the emergency brake on, and with your foot hard on the brakes (so you don’t kill the guy with his head under the open hood, step on the gas slowly increasing rpm, if the motor mount is bad, the engine will lift up on the driver side.(only works in reverse). Old motor mounts get loose too, the only other option is some 500 plus hp engine, which in that case you put in some good motor mounts, and then chain the thing down with some hardened chain from the hardware store.

Q: What can I get for exhaust on a Trans Am?
I’m buying a ‘97 trans am and i’m wanting to what exactly I need to put on it to make it sound really nice. It already has a flowmaster muffler and thats it. The car wasn’t really loud with it on. The car also doesn’t have any headers. I’m pretty sure its a y pipe. What exactly do I need? I don’t no much so something clearly explained would be appreciated.

A: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/PartSearchCmd?storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&pageId=partTypeList&suggestion=&searchTerm=exhaust#storeId=10151&langId=-1&catalogId=10051&searchTerm=exhaust&pageId=ajaxPartList&category=&l1_categoryId=&l2_categoryId=&partType=&facetFields=mfrName_exact%2C%2Cclearance%2Csale%2Cl1_category%2Cl2_category%2Cpart_type&beginIndex=0&filterValue=priceBucket%3A4|4&sortBy=4&pageSize=20&filters=priceBucket%3A4

Q: How do I swap out my instrument panel bulbs for blue LED ones? 1997 Pontiac Trans Am?
I have a 1997 Pontiac Trans Am, I really think the red lights on the instrument panel are pretty dull. So I was going to first figure out how to remove the panel itself and then replace the bulbs in there now with blue LED’s. So could anyone help me as to how to do either of those two things?

A: You first need to open up the cluster panel in order to remove all the bulbs in behind.

Most likely, you will need about 5 to 8 pairs the T5 LED bulbs in Ultra Blue and I will recommend you the the much bright and wider angle shining 5050-type SMD T5 LED bulbs.

Be careful when you open up the cluster panel, make sure to disconnect all the wires at the back gently because if the wire is broken, you will end up with no lights at all (I have had that problem before)

You can search on google for ijdmtoy.com/how and find the picture installation guide for how to install the Blue LED cluster bulbs.

Q: tiny bit confused. How do the radiator get air on a 1993-2002 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am without a grill?
Every front engine car I know has a grill with openings so air can get to the radiator but the 1993-2002 Trans Am don’t. So how does the radiator stay cool with no air flowing through it?

A: The same way the previous generation got air, from underneath. There’s a big plastic air dam underneath the radiator support that directs air up into the radiator and condenser.

BTW, there are PLENTY of cars that done have front grilles to allow air to hit the front of the radiator(my 89 Trans Am and C5 ‘vette being two).

Q: About How much horsepower more would I get if I put some headers on a 2000 Trans Am?
On ebay it says this acesetter Long Tube Headers – 98-02 Camaro/Trans am

Starting with 3/8″-thick steel plate and 1-3/4″-diameter carbon steel alloy tubing, each header is precision-crafted to insure proper fit and seal. The mandrel-bent tubing insures maximum flow to the 3″-diameter collector and on into the mandrel-bent Y-pipe. These headers replace the stock cast iron exhaust manifolds and have provisions for all smog and engine management hook-ups.

Includes: Off-road Y-pipe, clamps, O2 extension kit, fasteners and gaskets. About how much more horsepower would i get from putting this on a Trans am?

A: Is it a 3.8 or a 5.0? If it is the v-8, is it an Ls1? Hard to say if I do not know the engine size!

Q: Where can I find the electrical piece that the middle console window switches connects to on a 1979 Trans Am?
There’s a small piece that is crucial that goes onto the middle console window switch on a 1979 Trans Am. This piece is formed for wires to fit into it and it’s then plugged into the middle console window switch. We’ve lost this piece, and we can’t find it. Where can I get it? Or what is it called, and or the part #.

A: You will most likely need to go to a GM Pontiac dealer parts department, if they can’t get it, they may be able to steer you in the right direction to find it.

Q: anyone has tips on changing spark plugs on an 88 trans am?
Does anyone has any good tips for changing the spark plugs on a 1987 trans am gta with a 350 tpi engine. there is no room and i need a little help.

A: The easiest way I have found is to crawl under the car and change the back plugs from underneath. It is a huge pain but it is one of the joys of the cars. Just change all the plugs that you can get to from the top and the ones that you just can not reach change from the bottom.

Also no you can not change them through the inner fenders there are no holes to get to the plugs it will not work.

Q: How can I increase the efficiency/mpg of my 1978 Trans Am?
I bought my 78 Trans Am and I couldn’t be any happier, but I know that the price of gas won’t be this low for very long, so i want to increase the 14 mpg i get right now. Everything in the 400 is stock except for the cam. How could I increase the MPG? Could I install an EFI system? I’ve also heard that the exhaust is extremely restrictive in these cars. If I were to install a new exhaust system would I lose MPG while gaining HP?

A: Anything you are willing to do to make your car inhale or exhale better will give you more power and increase mpg. A cold air intake, or even just a K and N air filter, and a cat back exhaust is a good place to start. I put a performance chip in my 01 Trans Am and gained noticeable power and mpg gains. None of these things are cheap so you’ll want to weigh the benefits against the cost of upgrading. For me the performance gains to be had by installing these simple bolt ons is worth the price. Any MPG gains are only a bonus!!!!!

Q: Why is that the bird on the Trans Am, some point to the passenger side and others to the driver.?
I have a 1980 S.E. Trans Am and it points to the passenger side however from the looks of the after market replacement birds they point to the drivers side

A: I’m almost positive the original bird looks to the drivers side, however most people arent keen enough to notice this slight difference.

Q: What are those little things on the hood of custom cars?
Well I was watching this show on tv where they make junk cars into custom show cars and on the hood are these little circles with strings or wires going into the engine. I was just curious to find out what these are? Can anyone help?

A: It sounds like you are describing hood pins – the pins attach to the radiator support and go through the hood where small clevis or circle retaining pins are inserted through the hood pins to assure that the hood cannot be opened unless the retaining pins are removed.

Do not buy it if the paint job is locked, you wont be able to use it on other cars, I use them to sell the cars I get discounts on in the car dealer to sell them in the auctionhouse for full price or more.

Could u walk me through it in your response?

A: Using Windows Explorer, go to /MyDocuments/EaGames/Sim2/
if there is another subdirectory /Downloads, put it there. Create the subdirectory if it isn’t there.

Q: On mercenaries 2 for the Xbox 360 how can you get Eva to make custom cars for you?
I don’t yet know how to get eva to make custom cars even though i have collected some of the spare parts

Q: Can I get custom cars and clothes in the sims 3 from external websites?
I would like to add other cars and clothes in to to the sims 3, and is there a website where this can be done reliably?

A: The Sims Resource. =] (There is a smexy Audi TT Roadster for free on this site..amongst other delights).

Q: who built the custom cars that were given away in 1967 by esso?
in 1967 several oldsmobile toronados were customized and given away by esso -( the canadian subsidiary of exxon) . i am wondering if any escaped the wrecking yard and who the custom builder was.

A: type this in on google it will come up with alot of facts 67 olds toronados no www and no .com there is a very long list good luck

Q: what insurance is best for insuring custom cars that are at car shows?
I am planning to customize my car for show use. I was wanting to know which insurance was the best for this type of car?

A: I like Haggarty best, BUT, in order to qualify for that type of policy, you have to meet strict requirements – like, the car can’t be regularly driven by you, you must have at least one other car in the household for every operator, you must put less than 5,000 miles a year on the car, you must keep it in a locked garage, you must be over 26. And, of course, you must have a valid appraisal to establish the agreed value.

DO NOT buy “stated value” coverage. It’s worse than actual cash value. You want “agreed value” coverage. Your agent can explain the difference – and if they can’t, then you need an agent that knows the difference.

Q: Custom cars and paint from the late 70s?
Can anyone please lead me to sources of any kind about custom body kits, body work, or paintjobs from the late 70s. I had a book about it but I guess it got ruined when the roof leaked in the attic. I’d love to see the wide body kits and crazy paint jobs again, because I’d like to restore my 78 Camaro soon.

A: Dream it – Sketch it – Take the sketches to the body shop!

Q: How do you make custom die-cast cars?
I was trying to find information on how custom die-cast cars are made. I was hoping to find instructions on how to make these car.

A: There are die-cast kit cars that you put together, with the minorest of tools. The bodies are already painted, they may offer a couple choices of wheel combos … but it’s pretty simple to screw together. Unlike the old die-hard of the plastic model era. Of course, that is where talent really begins to muster, when you apply paint, glue, filing, sanding, etc. Much like the guys who get dirty building their own custom cars, actual size. One place you could check is Hobby People. Hope it helps.
