Q: Bmw????????
Does the W in BMW stand for wanker?
The letter W in BMW must mean wanker, they sure look like wankers prancing up and down Collins st in there little 318s. It’s good to see pretence is alive and well in Collins St.
A: I have a BMW, and I don’t w**k that much due to my family and job tiring me out! I have a 5 series touring (estate), and it fits my two kids and wife quite nicely. The only time I go fast is when w**kers in sh*ty cars try to burn you up, because you are in a BMW. Then I stroke the sexy accelerator peddle, the 500nm Torque engages, and they soon become a distant memory in my rear view mirror.
Q: BMW??????????????????/?
Ive like cars and stuff but i dont really know that much about them cause im 16 and i was on youtube and saw those older bmw m5 or m3 with something around 600 hp i think… what do they put in those bmws to make them super fast and how much would that cost… and how much would that cost to put that on a new bmw m3 or m5
A: Answering your questions in order.
1) I’ve seen M3’s go over a 1000 hp. Check out horsepowerfreaks.com, they do a lot of M3 turbo kits.
2) What’s in them to make them faster will either be a turbocharger or supercharger. I’ll leave the explanation of how it works to google.
3) And the cost can be anywhere from 5,000 for a supercharger to 40,000 for a stage 4 turbo kit, and anywhere in between.

Q: How exactly does the BMW Steptronic work?
I am looking into the new 2008 BMW 135i. But I’m a little confused with the steptronic transmission. With the steptronic transmission option, is the car at all like a manual car (i.e clutch, manual shifting without using the steering wheel)? My friend had a 2003 BMW 330Li that was an automatic, but had the Tiptronic so he COULD shift manually if he wanted to. Is the new BMW 135i going to be an automatic first, manual second? I want a standard manual car with the OPTION to use the steering wheel to shift (without the clutch), but I want it to be a manual car First. And what is the difference between Tiptronic and Steptronic? Thanks.
A: First of all Steptronic IS the automatic. You merely “row” through the automatic gears. It will hold the car in first (or any other gear) for as long as you want until you push/pull the gear shift into the next gear. Almost all automatic cars have this feature in one shape or form.
BMW has BASICALLY two manual type transmissions. One is the common manual where you have to depress a clutch, grab a shift lever, move the lever and let the clutch back up.
The other type is SMG (or sequential manual gearbox). It IS a true manual transmission with clutch, gears, etc. However the drive does NOT have to press on a clutch pedal (which is non-existant on an SMG). Moving one of the two paddle shifters on the steering wheel will automatically trigger servos that disengage/engage the clutch.
SMG was developed from Formula 1 racing.
Once again, Steptronic is an automatic transmission that you either leave in auto mode or “play like you have a manual transmission”. SMG is a true manual transmission.
If anyone doubts this, Google SMG or go to a BMW website or any other car manufacturer that has their varient of SMG.
Q: Can I service my BMW which is on pre-owned warranty ouside a BMW dealership like MIDAS?
I bought a BMW from a private seller and it is under pre-owned waranty until 2009. Can i service it outside a BMW dealership and still keep my pre-owned warranty. Reasons – Cheaper and easy to find service appointments.
A: Is it a BMW warranty or another extended extended warranty companies coverage plan? If it the latter, you can go anywhere you please. If it’s an extended BMW contract call any official BMW Dealership and ask what their policy is. Don’t for gosh sakes ever go to Midas for exhaust replacement, or any mechanical work. Deal with Monroe Muffler. All their exhaust parts are Walker products, the best aftermarket parts available. Most independent mechanics use Walker products. Avoid quick change oil places like the bubonic plague. Always go th an independent mechanic or a new car dealership. Less horrifying mistakes would be made there. For intricate mechanical work I’d certainly depend on a BMW dealership. You have a valuable piece, I certainly would not let any Tom Dick or Harry try to muddle through an engine that requires very specialized tools to do the job correctly.
Q: Can I use my new BMW to jump start my old Mazda battery?
I have a old Mazda MX5 (99 model) and a BMW 3 series (2008 model).
The battery on the Mazda is flat out and I don’t have a Break down cover on it. Can I use my new bmw to jump-start the mazda? Or are the new bmw batteries not compatible with the jump cables, etc?
Thanks in advance
A: sure you can jump it, 12 volts to 12 volts.
Q: Is it possible to change a BMW M5’s transmission from manual to automatic or automanual?
I am about to buy a BMW M5 with manual transmission and I was wondering if it is possible to convert it from manual to auto or automanual? If so, where can I get it done? How much will it cost?
A: Harley guy has no f*cking idea what he’s talking about. It can be done, but it would cost an insane amount of money. The base e39 transmission does not mount up to the S62 V8 in the M5, so it would need custom adapters to fit, a custom driveshaft would be needed, and adapters like the Guibo disc would need to be modified to work along with the driveshaft. At the very least you’re looking at $1000 for a used e39 tranny w/o shipping, custom driveshafts can be had for around $500, custom fit guibo $?, all the interior mods (auto shift knob, computers, etc…), and then the labor involved. A project like that could easily reach over $5000. Not worth it IMO. The M5 is a true sports car, it wasn’t meant to get a granny tranny…
***Thanks for the thumbs down
This has been discussed on the forums hundreds of times, I know what I’m talking about here.
Q: Does anybody know of any companies that sell turbos for bmw?
I own a 2000 BMW 323i and i was planning to turbo-charge it. Know of any companies that sell turbos for bmw?
A: HPF (horse power freak) or AA(active autowerke) sell turbos
Q: How much does it cost to have bmw plug my car into their computer?
My 3 series has an intermittent wiper problem and I have been told to go to bmw so they can plug into the ecu and diagnose the fault…
So I dont get ripped off can anyone tell me roughly what is a fair price for simply diagnosing the fault please?
A: Go to a BMW specailist that has the same equipment, it will be a lot cheaper. If car is under 3 years old it will be free at BMW. Main dealer will charge around £80 for this initial check.
Q: What is the hourly charge for most bmw dealerships service and repair work?
i currently drive a 96 mercedes c class and was thinking of purchasing a late 90’s or early 00’s bmw 3 series. the hourly service charge at my mercedes dealership is 100/hour for labor alone. are BMWs any cheaper?
A: I own BMW’s and the dealers charge about the same as Mercedes. I pay $100 now but it does vary by region. Your best bet is to go to an independent European car mechanic. My independent guy charges $80.
Q: Do BMW always need to have the front end bushings replaced around 130k miles or eventually?
Im looking at buying a used Bmw, but i don’t want to spend 6k on it then have to replace a bunch of parts that give out.
The car is a 1997 328is and has 117 miles. It has been upgraded with coil overs and sway bar and exhaust and some parts added to the engine. Is it worth 6.5k?
A: Without seeing the car, it is impossible to say whether that is a fair price, but you will probably have to replace the front end bushings at about 125k miles. I have a 1996 328iC with 147k miles on it. Surprise, surprise, I had to replace the front bushings at 125k miles and the mechanic said it was normal to need to do that. Don’t get it done at a dealer. There are plenty of independent BMW mechanics who can do the job and will not charge as much.
Q: How can I adjust a BMW 325i bi-xenon headlights? One is facing straight the other is facing down?
My friend has a 2003 BMW 325i sedan he has recently bought and the car has the bi-xenon headlights that BMW adds to the car. One of his lights are brighter then the other. Its seems as if one where facing down and the other where facing straight. How can he adjust the lights on the vehicle to be on par with each other? Would he have to unscrew the entire headlight off the car? Or is there something adjustable under the hood?
A: under the hod above the light there is a adjusting screw try that
Q: What did BMW do in order to manage global financial risk and why?

Q: How to reset dashboard light on a 2004 bmw x3 after replacing the turn signal bulb?
How to reset dashboard warning light on a 2004 bmw x3 after replacing the turn signal bulb after it was burned out?
A: The system on the car is designed to recognize it once a bulb has been replaced. If the dash still shows the fault, then the bulb or housing may not have been installed properly or the problem is with the wiring or fault system.
Q: What kind of saddle bag and mounting brackets would fit a BMW Roadstar bike? Do they need to be BMW?
I found a number of them on EBay, they claim to be universal, but I wonder if they would fit, they are all much more inexpensive than the BMW ones, so I wonder why such a discrepancy. Does anyone know?
A: Bags fit – same bag is used on multiple makes. The mounting brackets/frames are tailored to the installation. I’ve used same Wixom and Bates bags on /2, /5 and Suzuki T500 cycles, just had to get different mounting brackets. Current Goldwing saddlebags are mounted with a widely adjustable bracket assembly that has long arms, extra holes and slotted bolt holes that fits couple other large Japanese cycles.
